Adopt A Gurdwara
Gurdwara is meant to be the most sacred place in Sikhism. For Sikh, it is believed to be ‘the residence of Guru’, or ‘the doorway that leads to Guru’. Sikhs gather in a gurdwara for religious worship because they believe that God is present everywhere. It serves as a place for pilgrimage during festivals, for conducting inauguration and wedding ceremonies, for preparing and serving the food (langar), to learn holy sagacity, divine faith and frequently as an educational center for the needy. The religious status of the gurdwara is very high that’s why the Sikhs consider serving the gurdwara – a religious devotion. In Sikhism, the practice of helping others (Seva) without regard for any compensation is considered as the highest expression of worshiping God. The doing of this service is not merely an empathy, it’s an important act. In each moment of doing Seva, a Sikh feels a connection to the holy god.
In gurdwaras around the world, every serving that is done i.e. from cleaning to the cooking of langar to the leading of the kirtan – everything is considered as seva. Every Sikh is encouraged and expected to serve the gurdwara as much as they can for religious devotion. In Sikhism, serving a gurdwara is considered a very important task. At Ranjit Nagara, our mission is to preserve, build, and maintain the historical Sikh gurdwaras around the world as they’re of utmost religious importance. They are associated with the lives of the Sikh Gurus and serve as educational institutes to educate needy children, housing the Sikh scriptures, and organizing charitable work in the wider community on behalf of religious Sikh devotees.
